Suddenly Jay is good
Usually, when I am having some little emo moments, I would go listen to Say Goodbye by Jordan Knight and Deborah Gison, or James Blunt’s You’re Beautiful. But somehow, Jay Chou seems to be hitting the right spot recently. I am kinda addicted to this song at the moment, the song’s title is I am not worth it (Wo Bu Pei).
Jay Chou known for his talents is composing quality music but somehow I don’t seems to understand a word from him when he sings. But in this latest album, or should I say his recent production has all proven his worth in the music industry. Sorry to Jay Chou’s fans, but I don’t really like him last time but then his music keeps getting better with the Green Vase (Qing Hua Ci) and I am not worth it (Wo bu pei) as both seems to be very meaningful as the lyric compliments the melody of both productions. I believe Fang Wen San did wonderful jobs, and Jay Chou and Fang really did compliment each other without a doubt.
My current favorite from jay Chou, I am not worth it (Wo Bu Pei)
One of his excellent production, the green vase (Qing Hua ci)
Enjoy and do drop a few comments yea?
Guinness!
Well, Guinness was having St Patrick’s Day celebration at Pulse, Grand Millenium Hotel two days ago which is the 26th of February. St Patrick’s day or also known as Paddy’s day is a feast celebrated by Irish all over the world and it is slowly being adapted in non Irish community as well. There are many ways to celebrate this holy day which is wearing green or orange on the day itself, or, eating Irish food, and drinking lots of Beer! And most people celebrate it by wearing green and eating Irish food with Beer during the celebration!
At the Pulse, Guinness was serving their Guinness Black Beer using their Surger machine which makes their beer taste smoother and better, and the best thing is, its free flow till late! As part of the organiser for media and guest, I was shocked to see Kenny Sia and Timothy Tiah as one of our many guests! Both of them are really nice and not lan c at all!
And yea, Guinness also bring in the Chef in Black from Singapore to demonstrate how to prepare gourmet dishes with Guinness beer! They taste really good and I am impressed by the way he presents his food and his creativity in using Guinness as one of the main ingredient! Too bad that those lambs were being finished before anyone could take a close look! Damn those VIPs lol! His name is Emmanuel Stroobant, and he is a very friendly guy and he doesnt look like his age at all! Let me show you how he looks like!
And he is in his mid 40s! he said that he jogged 10km a day without fail! I cant even walk 10km haha. Anyway, this is only the media launch, the main event will be somewhere between March I think.. So.. look out for it yea?
A Fruitful Day+Night!
Yesterday was one of the best day of my intership. Filled with wonders and excitements because I was allowed to help my supervisor out at this media tour at Bangsar Shopping Centre, although I didnt help much but I get to go to places I have never been to before and also see things that I have never been exposed to.
Then later in the evening, I went back to Dang Wangi to attend this Converse event by Issac and Ian’s company which is Catcha, the publisher of Juice Magazine. The event started of with some rock band called Bitter Sweet playing some decent music and Eugene actually won himself a skull cap! Thanks to me! hua hua hua! All of us including Issac and Eugene’s friends or should I say, us were syok sendiri-ing all the way by winning the best supporter award of the night it self!
But I know that Issac is terribly saddened by the fact that he was only a step away from winning himself a pair of Converse shoe! Damn that guy, he was lucky! Issac played that musical chair thingy but he was the first runner up but he get something though, maybe a pair of shoelace.
At the end of the day, I am richer with a converse t-shirt, a box of cookies, 2 note pads and hell lotsa experience!
Random Thoughts
Some of us may have doubts in working as a PR practitioner after our grueling internship which is still on the way. Most of us thinks that all we do is just media monitoring, reports, and more reports. Judging by what my colleagues is doing, I guess this is the way of PR but it is interesting to work alongside this peoples as they have really funny thoughts but yet complicated lifestyle.
But I guess this PR thing is slowly growing inside me and I believe I should put in more effort to get the max out of it. But I gotta admit that I am a slow learner and I dont mind getting screwed for mistakes I have done but this is the way to improve isnt it? Anyway, besides media monitoring and reports, I guess we are going to do press releases pretty soon.
Oh.. guess what? The Pavillion is right infront of my office and I didnt know that until Eugene asked us whether we wanna have a stroll since we have lotsa time during lunch. haha Joyce!!! are you jealous?? JCO is just 5 minutes away from where I am working!
To MC: G2 and GCI is under the Grey World Wide group, its just that G2 is all bout events and GCI is all bout PR.
How’s your internship?
Third day at work and some random thoughts
Although I am not complaining for all the scannings I did and the soon to come reports tomorrow, I am feeling satisfied for the stuff I have done so far during my internship. After all the media monitoring and scanning new clippings, I get to photocopy the reports and was given the reason to do so, because when the older interns left, nobody is free enough to teach.
Saw Choon who is incharge of P&g, Club21, and ofcourse the very best, Baskin Robins! Oh and he gave us some DoDo bird keychain from his Mauritius trip and that place sounds like a nice place to me. Ok, back to the topic.. I got off from work at 8pm because I really wanted to finish Hazel’s work and to not drag it any further. Hazel suddenly makes me hate those banks now, namely CIMB, Citi Bank, Public Bank, Standard Charted and etc. I wanna go look at Baskin Robins instead~~~~~
At this point, I realised that I need a direction to not only for my career but also what I wanna achieve in my life. As of now, I find PR really interesting from the articles I read and the way people behave in this industry. Seriously, they are fun to be with and they talk about just anything and everything. Hopefully I will find my direction from this latest passion of mine and hopefully I will get to do more interesting stuff at GCI such as Press realeases, Feature articles and ofcourse lots of brainstorming to share ideas!
Second Day at Work
LOL now it sounds like my report of everyday’s work.
As usuall because I start working the moment I stepped into the office and do media monitoring before scanning those reports and news clipping into the computer. But now I know that media monitoring is kinda important as it not only tell your clients that you did something but also to help you to be aware of things happening around and take every opportunity out of it!
During lunch hour, manage to have lunch with Eugene but only for a short while as it was very packed at Wisma Genting’s cafetaria then we decided to have a stroll at Hill and Knowlto, and I saw his colleague which is another intern from Monash but she’s not that “leng” as he said. Soon after getting back to the office I start scanning the leftovers from Hazel and worked till 6.30pm! and its pouring. Why all the bad luck fell on me one?
But I manage to learn and absorb some stuff from them. So its still ok and now I am looking forward to some other stuff to do after I get used to media monitoring and hopefully I’ll get to learn more before this internship ends.
I know its late but I was tired mar…
P/S: Angel, GCI is a PR company under Grey Worldwide
come look for me ya?
First Day at Work
Well, my first day at GCI turns out quite well with lotsa works and I ended up going home later than I expected. Our supervisor/immediate manager is Alisan, she’s from UK and she’s very very nice. Alisan doesnt mind teaching us new interns about how to do our newspaper clippings and how to do reports. Pretty interesting as how things were being done here and everyone is being very nice in guiding us through.
As usuall, nobody likes to do media monitoring/read newspapers due to its boringness and etc but infact, its where money came in for PR agencies but really, its damn boring and stressful as we cant afford to miss out any news of our clients and competitors. Interesting isnt it?
Then we had a brief meeting with out boss, Wei which is superb in the way he thinks and I admire his creativity as he can really get something out of no where! He explained how advertising and PR works in the past and now, showing us the importance on how a brand should carry themselves and etc.
To make things more interesting, Wei actually let us in for a brainstorm session for a new shopping centre in KL and the session was superb with everyone coming out with different ideas and interesting ones! This is where I found out how people in the industry really work and their excutions and ideas are really different from what we are doing in the Uni and this opened up a whole new horizon for me!
However, I am not very looking forward to work tomorrow because I have 5 more banks to scan!! *faints* nites then..
